Social responsibility – certification in accordance with SRM 10000 – 04.01.2011

On December 2010, SIMTEX-OC completed the preparation of the certification standard for the social responsibility management system – SRM 10000:2010. The standard has been endorsed by ORDA and OSIM, being also protected in accordance with the applicable copyright law.

Unlike other similar (equivalent) standards, the certification in accordance with SRM 10000 brings a series of major advantages to the organisation:
1. much lower implementation and certification costs;
2. the audit is performed annually, not several times a year;
3. the requirements can be easily met by any organisation which observes the specific applicable law (e.g.: Labour Code on the Romanian territory);
4. the harmonisation and integration of SRMS (Social Responsibility Management System) to other existent management systems within the organisation: quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001) etc., with the possibility of preparing a unitary documentation for the integrated management system.

On the 08th of March 2010 SIMTEX-OC has become the first certification body in Romania authorised to certify information security management systems. The accreditation has been performed by the national accreditation body, RENAR, which makes the certifications in accordance with SR ISO/CEI 27001:2006, performed by SIMTEX-OC, officially recognised by Romanian authorities. Standard ISO 20000:2011 for service management was released – 05.09.2011

On the 12.04.2011 was released the new standard ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 which shall replace the current certification referential ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 used for the IT service management system.

The main novelty brought by this new standard can be observed straight from its title: Service Management System (the strict reference to IT systems is no longer present). Although the references to the other parts of ISO/IEC 20000 remained, it is likely that these related standards should be modified soon, especially the second part which is intended to be an implementation guide for this management system.

Presently, it is not very clear to which extent the enforcement of ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 requirements within a service company (not necessarily within the IT domain) shall overlap the enforcement of ISO 9001:2008 requirements for the same type of organisation. The organisations certified so far by SIMTEX-OC on the basis of standard ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 shall have to adjust their procedures and management system to the new version of the standard released in 2011, having to subsequently complete their transition audits within 1 year as of its release. The transition shall be performed within the scheduled surveillance audits.
